In his statement regarding the incident, Minister Katz said, "I strongly condemn the riots and vandalism carried out by a handful of violent ultra-Orthodox extremists at the 'Yad LaShirion' memorial site in Latrun and call on law enforcement to take immediate action to bring all involved to justice."

Katz stated that no protest can justify disrespecting the memory of those who fell for the State of Israel, and noted that he instructed Defense Ministry personnel to assist the site's administration in every possible way. He added, "Damaging monuments is crossing a red line, and we will not allow it."
