In a statement following the call, Herzog said:
“I expressed my deep shock and sadness over the catastrophic terrorist attack against the Jewish community in Sydney last week.”
“Prime Minister Albanese informed me that the Governor-General of Australia would invite me to visit Australia, and I accepted the invitation.”
