Kristersson noted that, as seen in yesterday’s meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, the expansion of support for security guarantees for Ukraine is a positive development.

He added that discussions continue about a potential force that could contribute to Ukraine’s security, and as he had mentioned before, Sweden is prepared, under suitable conditions, to contribute for example with air surveillance and naval forces, saying:

“The design of a ceasefire or a peace agreement and the nature of an American commitment will determine this. It is positive that more countries are now defining what they can contribute. Ukraine needs long-term security so that peace does not become just a pause until Russia decides to attack again.”
