French President Macron stated that he met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and thanked him for the excellent cooperation in the arrest of one of the main perpetrators of the Rue des Rosiers terrorist attack.

He noted that they agreed to work together to ensure his extradition as soon as possible, adding: “In the face of the extremely urgent situation in Gaza and other Palestinian territories, on Monday in New York I reiterated to the President of Palestine my intention to recognize the State of Palestine.”

Macron emphasized that this recognition is part of a comprehensive peace plan for the region aimed at meeting the security and peace aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians.

He stated that he reiterated his demands to the Palestinian Authority and added: “President Abbas also reaffirmed his determination to implement the necessary reforms to renew the Palestinian Authority and ensure the stability of the future Palestinian state. France will continue to support the Palestinian Authority on this path. We will ensure the fulfillment of these commitments for the security and stability of the entire region.”
