Italian Prime Minister Meloni welcomed the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Daniel Francisco Chapo, at Palazzo Chigi.

Meloni stated that the meeting, held to mark the 50th anniversary of Mozambique’s independence and the establishment of diplomatic relations, reaffirmed the importance of the bilateral partnership and highlighted the shared determination to implement numerous joint initiatives within the Mattei Plan.

She noted that these initiatives cover all sectors of the strategy and said: “Moreover, considering the complementary nature of our economic structures and ENI’s central role in liquefied natural gas exploration and production for Mozambique’s development, we also decided to work together to intensify commercial relations.”

Meloni announced that agreements were reached to strengthen bilateral cooperation in legal assistance, civil protection, and digitalization.
