Merz: Europe will strengthen security in the north
Berlin, January 27 (Hibya) – German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that Europe’s unified stance has led to success in the Greenland negotiations, announcing that Germany will increase security in the northern regions within the framework of NATO.
German Chancellor Merz emphasized that Europe’s unified position contributed to the success of the negotiations with Greenland. He noted that Germany, as a NATO partner, will strengthen security in the northern regions and conveyed this commitment to Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Jens-Frederik Nielsen.
The chancellor also drew attention to the importance of security, defense capacity, and sovereignty. Speaking at the WELT Economic Summit, Merz said that Europe must become a strong actor both economically and militarily in order to achieve its goals: “Europe must be an economic and military power so that we can realize our objectives.”
