Szijjarto: We will not allow Ukraine to interfere in our elections
Budapest, January 27 (Hibya) – Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto stated that Ukraine is attempting to interfere in Hungary’s electoral process and announced that Ukraine’s Ambassador to Budapest has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Szijjarto, claiming that Ukraine is trying to interfere in elections in Hungary, announced that Ukraine’s Ambassador to Budapest has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Szijjarto alleged that Ukraine has made attempts to influence election results in favor of the Tisza Party, stressing that this would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Minister Szijjarto used the following expressions in his statement on the matter:
“Today, we summoned Ukraine’s Ambassador to Budapest to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We will not allow Ukraine to influence the outcome of elections in Hungary or interfere in the electoral process in favor of the Tisza Party.”
Szijjarto claimed that in recent weeks the Ukrainian President and the Ukrainian government have been conducting an open, reckless and aggressive campaign of interference, arguing that these actions amount to direct interference in Hungary’s internal affairs.
Szijjarto continued his statement as follows:
“Only the Hungarian people decide Hungary’s future. This decision is not made in Brussels or in Kyiv. We will defend our sovereignty by all means.”
