Merz: Without you, Germany cannot have a good future
Berlin, September 22 (Hibya) – German Chancellor Friedrich Merz issued a message to the country’s Jewish community on the occasion of the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah).
In his statement, Merz emphasized the importance of Jewish life in Germany for the future of the country: "Today I want to tell our Jewish citizens living in Germany: Without you and without a vibrant Jewish life at the heart of our society, our country cannot have a good future."
He stressed that ensuring the Jewish community enters the new year with hope and confidence is a shared responsibility: "It is our duty to make sure you begin the new year with confidence and hope."
Chancellor Merz concluded his message with the traditional Hebrew New Year greeting “Shana Tova” (“Happy New Year”).
