European Parliament President Roberta Metsola met with the President of the German Bundesrat, Andreas Bovenschulte, at the European Parliament's German-language group office.

In her statement following the meeting, Metsola said that the European Union (EU) can only become stronger by working together with its regions.

Metsola stressed that close cooperation with Germany's federal states would play a crucial role, particularly in the upcoming negotiations on the EU's long-term budget, the Multiannual Financial Framework.

The meeting also addressed the role of cohesion policy in strengthening Europe's competitiveness, as well as efforts to reduce administrative burdens.
