Investors remained cautious in European equity markets as the region's major indices delivered mixed performances.

The pan-European STOXX 600 Index traded flat at 639.27 points. Germany's DAX Index also hovered near its previous close at 24,763.12 points.

France's CAC 40 Index remained broadly unchanged at 8,299.09 points, while the UK's FTSE 100 Index fell 0.73 percent to 10,639.17 points.

The sharpest loss of the day was recorded in Italy, where the FTSE MIB Index dropped 1,476.20 points, or 2.80 percent, to 51,315.84 points.

Country-specific divergence was evident across European equity markets as investors continued to closely monitor the global economic outlook, corporate earnings, and expectations regarding monetary policy.
