The major U.S. stock market indices continued the trading day with mixed performance.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) rose 0.35% to 51,848.90 points. The Russell 2000 Index, which tracks the performance of small-cap companies, also gained 0.37% to reach 2,986.63 points.

In contrast, the broad-based S&P 500 Index fell 0.10% to 7,358.22 points, while the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index declined 0.43% to 25,476.64 points. The Nasdaq 100 Index also dropped 0.43% to 29,220.06 points.

While industrial and small-cap stocks posted gains, weakness in technology shares weighed on the Nasdaq indices. Overall, U.S. stock markets displayed a mixed performance.
