Orban: We put our people first
Budapest, March 12 (Hibya) - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban responded to the criticisms of European Parliament Vice President Nicu Stefănuță.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban made a statement regarding European Parliament Vice President Nicu Stefănuță.
Criticizing Europe's overall economic situation, Orban said: "Vice President Nicu Stefănuță, you dared to lecture Hungarians in the European Parliament and encourage them to vote against us. Before doing so, perhaps you should take a look at Europe. Across the continent there are austerity measures, layoffs, and factory closures."
Emphasizing that Hungary’s priorities differ from those of Brussels, Orban stated: "Meanwhile, in Hungary we have provided job opportunities for everyone who wants to work, introduced lifetime income tax exemptions for mothers with two or more children, increased the minimum wage by another 11 percent, introduced fixed 3 percent housing loans for young people, and expanded family support. All of this is possible because we keep our money in Hungary instead of sending it to Ukraine."
Orban concluded his statement by saying: "This is the difference between Brussels' policy and Hungarian priorities: we put our people first! As a sign of my goodwill, I refrained from making any comments about the state of Romania's economy."
