Palestinian Foreign Minister Shaheen meets SDC Director General Danzi
Jerusalem, January 23 (Hibya) – Palestinian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Farsin Aghabekian Shaheen met with Patricia Danzi, Director General of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). Swiss Ambassador Anne-Lise Hennin and her delegation also attended the meeting.
During the meeting with SDC Director General Danzi and her delegation, Minister Shaheen underscored the importance of Switzerland’s support for Palestine, highlighting in particular food, medical, water, and shelter assistance in Gaza.
Shaheen emphasized the need to support the health sector, improve sanitation and hygiene services, safeguard students’ right to education, and address the mental health needs of Gaza’s population. He also stressed that international pressure on Israel must be increased to ensure the entry of humanitarian aid.
Danzi stated that Switzerland is a long-standing partner of Palestine and that support for Gaza, the West Bank, and UNRWA continues. She noted a particular focus on strengthening the health system and said the visit was part of monitoring the 2026 support plan and efforts to rebuild institutions and buildings in Gaza. Danzi also emphasized that the challenges in Gaza are not limited to physical reconstruction but include mental health and social recovery as well.
