Czech President Petr Pavel stated that painter Jaroslav Cermak had achieved in Paris the success that many artists of his generation dreamed of, but later traveled to the Balkans and joined Montenegrins fighting against the Ottoman Empire.

Pavel noted that Cermak observed the difficult daily lives of Montenegrins and reflected their experiences in his paintings. He expressed his pleasure at opening the exhibition of the artist's works at the Prague City Gallery alongside Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic, thereby recalling a part of the two countries' shared history.
