Prevot stated that the bombings deliberately targeted civilians, residential areas, hospitals, energy infrastructure and essential services, resulting in the death and injury of innocent people, including children.

Highlighting that these acts constitute war crimes, Prevot said: “They are part of a systematic strategy aimed at breaking the morale of the Ukrainian people. Yet despite this brutality, Ukrainians continue to stand with extraordinary courage. Their resilience in the face of terror deserves our deepest respect and solidarity.”

Prevot also referred to the attack on the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Kyiv, stressing that targeting a diplomatic mission is unacceptable and represents a direct violation of the principles that uphold the international system.

He added that Belgium stands with Azerbaijan and all diplomatic staff affected by the attack, and addressed the Ukrainian people: “Together with our European and international partners, we will continue our support for Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia until this illegal and immoral war comes to an end.”
