Russian President Putin spoke by phone with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

During the call, Putin once again expressed his deepest condolences regarding the attempted assassination of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and members of his family, as well as the country’s military and political leadership, and the numerous civilian casualties resulting from the armed attack by the United States and Israel against Iran.

During the conversation, Russia’s principled position was reaffirmed in favor of the immediate cessation of hostilities, the rejection of the use of force in resolving any issues surrounding Iran or arising in the Middle East, and a rapid return to the path of a diplomatic solution.

Pezeshkian, for his part, expressed gratitude for Russia’s solidarity with the Iranian people who are defending their sovereignty and the independence of their country. He also provided detailed information about developments in the latest active phase of the conflict.

An agreement was reached to continue contacts with the Iranian side through various channels.
