Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the UN Arab Group had condemned Israel’s policies of expanding settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories.

According to the ministry’s statement, the Arab Group at the UN rejected the E1 settlement plan in East Jerusalem (Al-Quds) and related activities, stating that they violate international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2334. The group called on the UNSC to fulfill its responsibilities and ensure an end to Israel’s violations.

Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, speaking on behalf of the Arab Group at the UN, said that the Palestinian issue lies at the heart of peace in West Asia and stressed that the Israeli occupation must end, the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination must be ensured, and an independent state must be established within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Al Thani stressed the need for the comprehensive plan in Gaza to be implemented urgently and in full, for humanitarian aid to reach the area safely and without interruption, and for the reconstruction process to begin.

Al Thani also condemned the increase in settler violence in the West Bank, stating that attacks against civilians must end and those responsible must be held accountable.

The Arab Group also drew attention to the indispensable role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in its work for Palestinians and called for continued international support so that the agency can fulfill its mandate.
