According to CCTV, the increase in attacks by Israeli settlers and military operations carried out by the Israeli army in the West Bank is making the already fragile living conditions of Palestinians even more difficult while undermining hopes of a return to normalcy in the region.

On July 24, dozens of Israeli settlers raided the village of Tal, west of Nablus in the West Bank. Four Palestinians and one Israeli were killed in the clashes that followed. In the following days, Israeli security forces conducted operations in numerous Palestinian communities, while settler attacks were also reported in several villages.

Palestinian resident Sami al-Buzur from the village of Raba in the West Bank said Israeli settlers had rapidly expanded onto their land in recent months, stating: "For about a year and a half, the settlements here have been expanding. They have taken more than 50 percent of our land, particularly in the eastern, southeastern and northeastern areas."

Al-Buzur said settlers particularly target farmers and shepherds, adding: "Israeli settlers continue to pursue us. Their goal is to steal our livestock, prevent people from reaching their land, and stop shepherds from accessing grazing areas."

International law expert Omar Shatz argued that settler attacks often occur simultaneously with military operations.

Shatz said: "First the settlers arrive, create tension, and claim there is a security threat. Then the army steps in and imposes new security measures on Palestinians under the pretext of protecting the settlers."

According to official United Nations data, settler attacks have increased significantly in recent years alongside Israel's expansion of settlements in the West Bank and steps to legalize some outposts that had previously been considered unauthorized.

Palestinian officials and human rights organizations argue that settlement expansion, land confiscation and increased movement restrictions are steadily undermining the territorial integrity of a future independent and sovereign Palestinian state.

The recent wave of settler violence, described as one of the deadliest periods in recent years, has also heightened international concern over the future of Palestinian communities in the West Bank, with fears persisting over further displacement and violence.
