Statement from the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the situation of Palestinian prisoners
Ramallah, April 17 (Hibya) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reaffirmed that the issue of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons is one of the top priorities of Palestinian diplomacy at both the national and international levels.
In its statement, the ministry said that practices such as arbitrary detention, torture, medical neglect, and the denial of basic rights against prisoners are part of a broader policy of repression and displacement against the Palestinian people.
It was emphasized that these violations constitute a systematic crime contrary to international law, and that Palestinian diplomatic personnel are mobilized to defend prisoners’ rights and gain the support of the international community.
The statement included the following:
"The inhumane practices faced by prisoners, including torture, ill-treatment, and medical neglect, aim to impose control over the Palestinian people and weaken the social fabric.
Our ministry continues to work in coordination with the international community to stop these systematic violations that contravene international humanitarian law and human rights law. This situation constitutes an ongoing crime that requires accountability and prosecution at the international level."
