Sybiha: Japan can play a key role in reconstruction
Kyiv, August 4 (Hibya) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Japan could play a key role in Ukraine's reconstruction, from critical infrastructure to innovation partnerships.
Sybiha announced that together with Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka, he met with Yoshinobu Tsutsui, Atsuo Kuroda, and Norihiko Ishiguro.
On behalf of President Volodymyr Zelensky, he expressed deep gratitude to Japan for helping Ukraine endure three difficult winters and said: “Russia’s war has destroyed $600 billion worth of infrastructure in Ukraine.”
He emphasized that Japan could play a vital role in the reconstruction process, stating: “Today, we agreed on the steps we will take to advance our trade, business, and economic cooperation.”
Sybiha also said that the Ukrainian delegation met in Tokyo with a team led by Katsura Miyazaki, Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency. “Our partnership includes culture and arts, industry, education, science, healthcare, energy, infrastructure, environment, agriculture, and public financial management,” he added.
