Türk: Take action for a free and transparent digital media space
New York, May 3 (Hibya) – UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk urged leaders on Press Freedom Day to take action for a free and transparent digital media environment.
Türk stated that artificial intelligence shapes what we see online and how we perceive reality.
He noted that algorithms can control what news we consume or ignore, adding, “When media freedom is restricted, our right to information and our ability to think critically are also restricted.”
On Press Freedom Day, Türk urged leaders to take action for a free and transparent digital media space.
