Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiha meets with Philippine counterpart Lazaro
Kyiv, January 19 (Hibya) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met with Philippine Foreign Minister Tess Lazaro and briefed her on the current situation on the ground.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiha held a telephone conversation with Philippine Foreign Minister Tess Lazaro.
Congratulating the Philippines on the successful launch of its 2026 ASEAN Chairmanship, Sybiha said, “We are interested in deepening our cooperation in various fields and in becoming an ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partner.”
Sybiha noted that the talks focused on deepening cooperation in the areas of food security, humanitarian assistance, defense, digitalization, and political dialogue, adding, “We coordinated our future contacts to strengthen bilateral ties between our countries. I briefed my counterpart on Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, the current situation on the ground, and the progress of our peace efforts.”
Sybiha invited his Philippine counterpart to Kyiv and expressed gratitude for the invitation to Manila and for the support for Ukraine’s participation in this year’s ASEAN meetings.
