U.S. stock markets closed the day higher
Istanbul, July 31 (Hibya) - The major indices traded on U.S. equity markets ended the trading session higher. The Nasdaq posted the strongest performance, while the VIX volatility index declined.
The major indices traded on U.S. stock markets finished the July 30 session in positive territory. The Nasdaq led the gains thanks to strong buying in technology shares, while the Dow Jones and the S&P 500 also recorded positive closes.
Accordingly, the Dow Jones Index rose 1.19 percent to 52,208.06 points after reaching an intraday high of 52,266.45 and a low of 51,655.52. The S&P 500 gained 1.66 percent to 7,437.63 points, while the Nasdaq advanced 2.78 percent to 25,122.18 points.
The Small Cap 2000 Index increased 1.33 percent to 2,944.97 points, while Canada's S&P/TSX Index added 0.49 percent to close at 35,505.84 points. Brazil's Bovespa Index climbed 1.88 percent to 177,159 points, while Mexico's S&P/BMV IPC Index rose 1.22 percent to 67,290.40 points.
Meanwhile, the MSCI World Index, which tracks global equities, edged up 0.03 percent to 4,823.33 points, while Germany's DAX Index gained 0.60 percent to 25,612.03 points.
On the other hand, the S&P 500 VIX Index, which measures market volatility, fell 17.28 percent to 17.09.
