Ushakov: Putin and Trump will first meet face to face
Stockholm, August 14 (Hibya) - Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov stated that the meeting between the leaders of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, will begin in Anchorage at 11:30 local time. The leaders will first hold a one-on-one meeting, followed by talks with the participation of delegations over a working breakfast.
According to Ushakov, the duration of the summit will depend on the course of the talks, and a joint press conference is planned based on the outcome;
The main topic of the meeting will be the resolution of the Ukraine crisis, and the parties will exchange views on cooperation between Moscow and Washington;
The leaders will also discuss the challenges of ensuring peace and security, as well as issues on the international and regional agenda;
Each delegation will consist of five members; Moscow will be represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, Russian Direct Investment Fund CEO Kirill Dmitriev, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, and Ushakov himself;
The summit will be business-oriented, and after its conclusion, the delegation will return to Russia;
Ushakov described the holding of the meeting near the burial site of Soviet pilots who died while ferrying aircraft from the USA to the USSR under the Lend-Lease program, on the 80th anniversary of Victory, as symbolic.
