Volker Türk: Solidarity defines our humanity
New York, June 20 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk stated that millions of people forced to leave their homes cannot be abandoned at a time when global financial support is declining.
Referring to the living conditions faced by millions of displaced people around the world and the decline in international aid, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk emphasized that protecting human rights is a universal responsibility.
Drawing attention to the struggle for survival faced by refugees, Türk said: "This is a reality for millions of refugees and displaced people who have been forced from their homes and are often fighting to survive."
Stressing that economic downturns should not overshadow humanitarian crises, Türk stated: "At a time when financial support is declining, we cannot remain indifferent to those who have been forced to flee. Protecting human rights and showing solidarity define our humanity."
