Zelenskiy holds phone call with Christodoulides
Kyiv, January 1 (Hibya) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy held a phone call with President Nikos Christodoulides on the occasion of the start of the Greek Cypriot Administration’s (GCA) Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU). During the call, Zelenskiy stressed that Ukraine’s EU membership is a security guarantee and thanked Cyprus for its support.
President Zelenskiy held a phone call with Cypriot President Christodoulides, congratulating him on Cyprus assuming the EU Council Presidency and emphasizing the importance of Ukraine remaining among the priority issues over the next six months.
Zelenskiy said he briefed Christodoulides on diplomatic contacts with American partners and on the overall diplomatic situation, stating: “Efforts to achieve peace are ongoing almost around the clock; there can be no pauses.”
He also expressed his gratitude to the GCA and the people of Cyprus for their support, adding that he was thankful for President Christodoulides’ warm remarks about Ukrainians and Ukraine.
