Zelensky and Takaichi discuss defense and energy cooperation
Kyiv, November 5 (Hibya) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone call with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to congratulate her on taking office.
President Zelensky thanked Japan for its respect for the courage of the Ukrainian people, its unwavering support for Ukraine, and the integrity it has shown since the beginning of the Russian invasion.
The two leaders discussed opportunities to join forces to strengthen security and development for their peoples and the region. Zelensky emphasized that, given the changes and challenges brought by the war, both countries are ready to work together to develop advanced technologies to protect lives. He also expressed Ukraine’s intention to develop controlled arms exports and establish strong partnerships for the joint production of modern weapons capable of protecting partners from threats.
Zelensky welcomed Japan’s and Takaichi’s readiness to support Ukraine’s energy sector this winter by providing the necessary equipment to assist Ukrainian cities and communities.
