Zelensky: Changes in Russian tactics must be taken into account immediately
Kyiv, 22 February (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that logistical infrastructure was targeted following Russia’s nighttime attacks carried out with approximately 50 missiles and 297 unmanned aerial vehicles, and ordered the strengthening of air defense capabilities.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a coordination meeting regarding the situation in the regions after Russia’s large-scale air attacks across the country.
Sharing data on the scale of the attacks, Zelensky said, “There were approximately 50 missiles, 22 of them ballistic, as well as 297 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types. A significant portion of them were shot down.”
Zelensky stated, “We held detailed discussions with regional representatives on the need to increase protection against Russian attacks by immediately taking into account the changes in Russian tactics.”
Noting that the attacks caused civilian casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, Zelensky said regarding the situation in the Sumy region: “I instructed the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to deploy additional forces to protect the airspace over the Sumy region. The day before, in the Shostka district, a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle attacked an ambulance – this was a deliberate attack. Tragically, three people lost their lives. The Russians must feel the consequences of every such strike, and all border and frontline regions must feel that protection against Russian drones has been strengthened.”
