Zelensky discusses Ukraine's defense financing with von der Leyen
Kyiv, September 17 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed Ukraine's defense financing and projects aimed at strengthening European security with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
In a post on his social media account, Zelensky said he had a productive conversation with von der Leyen. He thanked her for the attention given to Ukraine and security issues in her annual address to the European Parliament.
Zelensky said the initiative to use the remaining resources in the SAFE program by Ukraine and the European Union to implement new defense projects was timely and necessary, adding that they were also ready to cooperate on other security proposals that could strengthen the security of Europe and individual countries.
Zelensky said the conversation covered in detail the steps that need to be taken to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities as well as the issue of financing Ukraine's defense. He added that preparations for a solution were underway and that they had agreed to hold a meeting in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
