Zelensky meets with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew
Istanbul, April 4 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met in Istanbul with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and discussed the situation of Ukrainian children, Russian aggression, and the peace negotiation process.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a statement after his meeting with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
Referring to the main agenda items of the meeting, Zelensky said: "Istanbul. Meeting with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. The main topic of the meeting was the difficult situation of Ukrainian children and the suffering they have had to endure because of Russian aggression."
Zelensky said, "I thank His Holiness for his support for Ukraine, the Ukrainian people, and our children, as well as for his constant prayers."
Providing information about the negotiation process and his invitation, Zelensky stated: "I informed His Holiness about the negotiation process aimed at achieving an honorable peace."
President Zelensky concluded his statement with the words: "We also discussed the issue of the development of the church in Ukraine. In this important year, when we celebrate the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine's independence, I invited His Holiness to visit our country to offer spiritual support to our people."
