Ukrainian President Zelensky met with European Council President Antonio Costa.

Thanking the EU and European institutions for actively working on security guarantees for Ukraine, Zelensky said: “We are creating a system that will work during the war and afterwards. Our Coalition of the Willing includes 35 countries, and 26 are ready to provide security guarantees.”

Zelensky emphasized the value of instruments such as the SAFE initiative, which involves 19 countries, stating: “Ukraine must be a full participant; SAFE can significantly strengthen defense capabilities both in Ukraine and across Europe. It is vital that everyone sees Ukraine as part of the EU. Membership means economic and geopolitical security. The US also supports this and views Ukraine’s security as part of Europe’s collective security.”

Zelensky added that with European Council President Antonio Costa they coordinated the steps in Ukraine’s accession negotiations and said: “I thank everyone who supports strong sanction policies in Europe.”
