Ukrainian President Zelensky provided information in a social media statement on defence efforts against the “Shahed”-type unmanned aerial vehicles used by Russia.

Zelensky said they are working with manufacturers on a new generation of interception systems to be used against jet-powered “Shahed”-type unmanned aerial vehicles, stating, “There are solutions, and testing is ongoing. We are accelerating all processes.”

Stating that Ukraine needs a defence solution that can be deployed in sufficient numbers and with the required level of effectiveness, Zelensky said he discussed with Defence Minister Yevhenii Khmara and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi steps that could help deliver results more quickly.

Zelensky also said the financial basis for the work had been secured.

Noting that he had also received information on the situation at the front, Zelensky said Ukrainian forces were holding their positions and actively defending them. Zelensky also thanked the personnel of the 3rd Army Corps, the 66th and 125th Mechanized Brigades, and the 46th Separate Airmobile Brigade serving in the Donetsk region.
