Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation Jose Manuel Albares commented on the rise of the far right in European politics and its impact on the continent’s future.

Drawing attention to the risk posed by far-right politics, Albares said: “There is no greater threat to the lives of Europeans and Spaniards than the far right.”

Referring to the ultimate aims of these political movements, Albares said: “These are political forces that aim to weaken us, divide us and destroy Europe’s project of peace and prosperity.”

Albares concluded his statement with the words: “We cannot leave our future in their hands.”
