Belgian Foreign Ministry calls on Israel
Brussels, September 12 (Hibya) — The Belgian Foreign Ministry has called on Israel to take immediate steps to end its unlawful presence in the occupied Palestinian territories.
In a statement, the Belgian Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern about the growing cycle of violence in the West Bank, including mass raids by the Israel Defense Forces in Tulkarem and against its residents.
The signing of the E1 plan, aimed at expanding Israeli settlements near Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank, was strongly condemned: “This is a blatant violation of international law and further undermines the possibility of a two-state solution.”
The statement also expressed deep concern about the financial crisis of the Palestinian Authority, which risks further undermining stability and security in the West Bank. “We call on Israel to transfer the collected tax revenues to the Palestinian Authority. We call on Israel to take immediate steps to end its unlawful presence in the occupied Palestinian territories. All parties must work towards concrete progress toward a two-state solution.”
