U.S. President Donald Trump said that a suspect believed to have killed Charlie Kirk has been arrested, adding: “The suspect was reported by someone very close to him.”

“I hope he is found guilty and given the death penalty,” Trump said, continuing:

“Charlie Kirk was the best person who did not deserve this. He worked very hard, and everyone loved him.”

Trump also said he would ask Utah Governor Spencer Cox to punish the attacker who shot at Kirk, adding: “There is the death penalty in Utah, and you have a very good governor there. I know the governor, and he is very determined on the death penalty in this case.”
