Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten launched construction of chipmaking equipment manufacturer ASML’s new campus in Eindhoven.

The campus, to be built at Brainport Industries Campus (BIC) Noord, is planned to have a long-term capacity of 20,000 workplaces.

Jetten said the global chip industry is expected to grow significantly in the coming years and stressed the importance of ASML continuing to develop in the Netherlands while maintaining its global competitiveness.

ASML’s new campus will be built in phases in the BIC Noord area of Eindhoven. The project, covering approximately 350,000 square meters, is expected to provide 20,000 workplaces in the long term. The first phase is planned to be completed in 2029 and accommodate at least 3,000 employees.

The new campus is planned to bring production, logistics and office activities together, while a “flow factory,” a new production model for ASML’s TWINSCAN factories, will also be established. The structure is intended to enable production and assembly processes to be carried out faster and at a larger scale.

Jetten said investments by the Dutch government, the province of Noord-Brabant and the Brainport region played an important role in making the new campus possible.

The new campus is expected to help ASML expand its operations in the Netherlands and maintain its current position. The project is also expected to create new business opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises in the region.

Jetten emphasized the importance of reducing dependence on other countries at a time of global uncertainty.

The Dutch Prime Minister said the start of construction of the new campus in Eindhoven has laid a concrete foundation for the future of innovation and is also important for the future of the Netherlands and Europe.

ASML’s new campus will increase production and employment capacity in the Brainport region in addition to the company’s existing operations in Veldhoven.
