Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, stated that the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement was jointly signed by the three countries in Makkah on Friday, August 7, 2026, noting that the step reflects the deep bonds of brotherhood between the leaders and peoples.

Noting that the agreement was the product of a long-standing process, Dar said, "The Makkah Agreement is the result of many years of discussions and mutual contacts. Its purpose is to strengthen strategic cooperation to address various challenges to peace and security and to promote peace, stability and prosperity in the region."

Explaining the agreement's impact on existing commitments, Dar said, "The Makkah Agreement does not repeal or amend any of the existing bilateral or multilateral agreements between these countries. Likewise, it does not affect these countries' existing agreements with other countries or organizations."
