Brussels, July 14 (Hibya) - European Union Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos announced that an important milestone has been reached in Ukraine's European Union accession process.

In a social media post, Kos announced that on what she described as a "Super Tuesday for EU enlargement," Cluster 6 was opened with Ukraine as part of the accession negotiations.
Kos said the cluster covers security and defense, adding that Ukraine will make a strong contribution to the accession process in these areas.
Emphasizing that Ukraine's military experience gained during the war and its innovative capabilities are of great importance for Europe's future security architecture, Kos stated: "Ukraine is indispensable to Europe's future security architecture."
Kos also said that the EU will continue supporting Ukraine's reform process, particularly in the field of the rule of law, adding that the next objective should be to open the remaining four negotiation clusters as soon as possible.
