The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that two Israeli citizens who crossed into Syrian territory in the Mount Hermon area were apprehended by security forces and returned to Israel.

In a statement, the IDF said the incident occurred in the morning when the two Israeli citizens crossed the Syrian border from the Mount Hermon area.

Israeli troops who quickly arrived at the scene located the individuals, returned them to Israel, and placed them under detention.

The statement added that the detainees would be handed over to the Israel Police for further legal proceedings.

The IDF strongly condemned the border breach, stating that the incident seriously disrupted ongoing military operations in the area and endangered the safety of troops on duty.

The statement said, "This incident poses a serious risk to the safety of IDF forces operating in the area," stressing that the relevant authorities "are obligated to apply the full extent of the law against those responsible" to prevent similar violations from recurring.
