Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar hosted Democratic Republic of the Congo Foreign Minister Therese Kayikwamba Wagner in Jerusalem.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations, regional developments, and cooperation in the health sector.

In a statement shared on social media, Sa'ar noted that the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as a member of the United Nations Security Council, has an important voice in international affairs and said Israel appreciates the country's support.

Sa'ar announced that two memoranda of understanding were signed during the meeting in the areas of diplomatic training and political consultations, adding that bilateral relations, including cooperation carried out through Israel's international development agency MASHAV, were also discussed.

He also said that Israel continues to support the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the fight against Ebola, noting that "three tons of medical aid have arrived in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and are ready for deployment."

Sa'ar added that the meeting also covered Israel's regional security challenges as well as the peace agreement signed between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, stressing that the agreement's full implementation by all parties is essential for regional peace and stability.
