Israeli army launches attack on Gaza
Jerusalem, October 28 (Hibya) – The Gaza Civil Defense Unit announced that Israel carried out at least three airstrikes.
According to The Guardian, the Gaza Civil Defense Unit reported that Israel conducted at least three airstrikes, while Israeli media described it as a “wave of attacks.”
Reports from the area indicated that the strikes targeted a location near the largest still-operational hospital in northern Gaza. Gaza City is located in the northern part of the Strip.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the army to carry out “strong attacks” on the Gaza Strip immediately, calling it the final test of the weakening ceasefire brokered by the United States.
Netanyahu issued the order after an emergency meeting to discuss alleged ceasefire violations by Hamas, amid calls from far-right figures in his government to return to war.
On Tuesday afternoon, Palestinian militants opened fire on Israeli soldiers in southern Gaza, prompting a retaliatory strike by the Israeli army.
Israeli media reported that Hamas militants attacked Israeli forces in southern Gaza with anti-tank missiles and small arms, and that Israel retaliated by striking infrastructure belonging to the militant group.
On Tuesday, Netanyahu accused Hamas of “blatantly violating” the US-brokered Gaza ceasefire, saying that the group had returned body parts of a hostage whose remains Israeli soldiers recovered two years ago.
An Israeli official told The Jerusalem Post, “The response to Hamas’s current violations will be much more significant than last time.”
