Meloni: The government has fulfilled another promise
Rome, October 28 (Hibya) – Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated that the government has fulfilled another promise made to the Italian people, particularly concerning the country's workers and businesses.
Meloni emphasized that the government has kept another promise to the Italian people and recalled that this year, May 1st was dedicated to the theme of “workplace safety,” which holds special significance for them.
She reminded that on that day, the government announced the allocation of an additional €650 million, on top of the existing €600 million available for INAIL tenders, to strengthen preventive and safety measures, adding:
“In recent months, we have held consultations with trade unions and employer organizations to define concrete steps, and the Council of Ministers approved a comprehensive decree regulating the use of these funds, identifying additional resources, and including numerous important measures. We chose to reward companies that set an example in reducing workplace accidents; we are strengthening the credit-based rating system and introducing a national electronic ID card for construction companies operating under subcontracting.”
Meloni added: “To increase inspection capacity, we are hiring 300 inspectors and 100 Carabinieri officers, providing scholarships for the children of workplace accident victims, and ensuring that travel between home and work for students in training is covered by INAIL insurance. This is the result of great teamwork that we are proud of.”
