Israeli Security Cabinet approves plan to occupy Gaza
Jerusalem, August 8 (Hibya) – The Israeli Security Cabinet approved, during the night between Thursday and Friday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plan to take control of the densely populated Gaza City. A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said the plan aims to defeat Hamas.
The decision was made despite warnings from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) about the risks to hostages and the potential for a humanitarian crisis. The IDF pointed out that hostages may still be in the area and that the operation could endanger their lives.
Although the approved plan is limited to Gaza City, Netanyahu had previously told Fox News of his intention to take control of the entire Gaza Strip—an indication that further military actions may follow.
The Prime Minister’s statement emphasized that the operation aims to defeat Hamas, without providing details on possible operations outside Gaza City.
