It was announced that many people were killed and several others were injured in the explosion at a bar in the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana.

Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tajani said he conveyed Italy’s deep condolences and solidarity to Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis following the incident in Crans-Montana.

Stating that he is in close contact with Italy’s ambassador to Switzerland, who went to the scene accompanied by officials from the Consulate General in Geneva, Tajani said:

“Necessary checks and confirmations are ongoing to determine whether Italian citizens may have been affected by the incident. The Crisis Unit of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, together with our diplomatic and consular missions in Switzerland, are continuing their work in full coordination with the competent Swiss authorities and law enforcement agencies.”
