Luxon: New Zealanders in conflict zones should follow local authorities’ advice
Wellington, March 1 (Hibya) – New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon called on citizens in countries affected by the conflicts to follow the advice of local authorities, including stay-at-home warnings.
Prime Minister Luxon stated that he is regularly briefed by New Zealand government agencies about the current situation in the Middle East.
Noting that thousands of New Zealand citizens are in countries affected by the conflicts, Luxon said, “At this stage, we have not received any reports of harm to any New Zealand citizen.”
Luxon urged New Zealanders in the affected countries to follow the advice of local authorities, especially stay-at-home warnings, adding:
“If they can leave safely, they should do so. I encourage everyone in the region to register with SafeTravel to receive the latest updates from the New Zealand Government.”
