Media: Baku to consider lifting arms embargo on Ukraine
Baku, August 11 (Hibya) — According to the Azerbaijani news portal Caliber.Az, citing reliable sources, “If Russia continues its aggressive policy against Azerbaijan’s interests, Baku will begin considering the lifting of the arms embargo on Ukraine.”
The report stated that a phone call took place between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during which they discussed the Russian army’s attacks on Ukraine’s gas infrastructure — through which Azerbaijani gas passes — and on the SOCAR oil facility in Odessa. The two leaders expressed their outrage at the actions of the Russian armed forces.
The article noted that on the night of August 7–8, 2025, Russian forces attacked an oil depot belonging to SOCAR in Ukraine’s Odessa region, sending five Shahed attack drones, which caused a fire and damaged the diesel pipeline.
This was the second attack in recent weeks on facilities belonging to Azerbaijan in Ukraine. Four company employees were seriously injured.
