Metsola meets Latvian leaders in Riga
Riga, October 10 (Hibya) – European Parliament President Roberta Metsola discussed strengthening security in Europe, defending democracy, and supporting Ukraine in Riga, while praising Latvia’s leadership and cooperation in the Baltic region.
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola met with Latvian Foreign Minister Daiga Mierina and Prime Minister Evika Silina during her visit to Riga. Metsola emphasized that parliaments are united in their mission to strengthen security, protect democracy, and support Ukraine.
Metsola noted that Latvia and the Baltic states understand current threats well, adding that Latvia’s foresight and leadership are crucial for Europe. She stated that the European Parliament is committed to serving citizens, simplifying procedures, and creating jobs. Metsola also spoke about her meetings with young people and efforts to facilitate education and career opportunities across Europe.
At the NATO base in Riga, together with Prime Minister Silina, Metsola visited soldiers and emphasized that brave troops safeguard peace through strength. She stated that under Latvia’s leadership, Europe is ready to build a safer and stronger future.
