Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Chargé d'Affaires of the Indian Embassy in Islamabad and lodged a protest over maneuvers carried out by an Indian Navy vessel on September 15, 2026, in Pakistan's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

According to a statement from the ministry, the incident occurred during the Pakistan Navy's biennial SEASPARK-26 exercise.

It was stated that the Indian Navy vessel carried out aggressive maneuvers dangerously close to a Pakistan Navy ship and that the two vessels made contact.

The statement argued that the incident constituted a serious violation of international law as well as the 1991 Agreement on Advance Notice of Military Exercises, Maneuvers and Troop Movements. Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the incident carried a risk of escalating tensions in the region.

The statement said the Indian Chargé d'Affaires was asked to convey to the Indian government that Pakistan categorically rejected the action. India was called on to strictly comply with international law, particularly bilateral agreements aimed at preventing incidents at sea.

It was also stated that the Chargé d'Affaires of Pakistan's Embassy in New Delhi would convey the same protest to India's Ministry of External Affairs.

The statement also called on the international community to urge India to “abandon its belligerent posture” and refrain from actions that could lead to instability in South Asia.
