Pakistani FM Dar: Right to self-determination must be granted
Islamabad, August 4 (Hibya) – Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, in his Independence Day message, stated that India is denying the rights of the Kashmiri people and called on the international community for support.
Dar said, “India has been denying the right to self-determination to the people of Kashmir for the last 78 years.”
“Since August 5, 2019, it has tried to silence the voices of Kashmiris through repression, demographic changes, media blackouts, and the arrest of political activists,” he added.
The minister emphasized that the Kashmiri people remain committed to their struggle and called on the international community to grant them the right to self-determination under UN resolutions and improve the human rights situation in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir region.
Dar concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s continued political, diplomatic, and moral support for the Kashmiri people until they attain their right, ending his message with: “May Almighty Allah grant our Kashmiri brothers their legitimate rights. Ameen!”
