Palestine: Israel’s Cabinet Decisions Are a Full-Fledged War Crime
Jerusalem, February 8 (Hibya) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned Israel’s cabinet decisions regarding the West Bank as “criminal in nature” and called on the international community to respond.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates rejected the decisions taken today (Sunday) by Israel’s cabinet regarding the West Bank, describing them as “criminal.” The ministry condemned Israel’s attempts to impose a fait accompli through settlement activities and its efforts to change the legal status of the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly Jerusalem.
Palestine stressed that Israel, as an occupying power, has no sovereignty over Palestinian cities and territories and has no right to amend or annul existing laws, especially Jordanian laws.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry stated that these decisions amount to a declaration of a full-fledged war crime, calling on states and international institutions to reject and condemn this crime and to initiate legal investigations against the Israeli occupation authority’s “Settlement Administration” and official bodies.
The ministry added that the decisions constitute a de facto annexation of Palestinian land, contradicting the anti-annexation and anti-settlement positions of U.S. President Donald Trump, and urged Trump to pressure Israel to reverse these decisions.
